About the art: This piece was inspired by a story “The Red Shoes” in the book "Women Who Run With The Wolves" by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. In the painting the woman is holding a little bird in her open hands as if transmitting love energy to the bird to wake it up to fly. I see our soul as split into two, an intact and a wounded part. The one which is intact has been always there and to guard the part which is lost or repressed. Often our repressed soul will find itself in a variety of traps: addiction, obsession, unfinished art, secret life, we forgot how to use our natural instinct, living by the values and rules of the collective, forgetting who we really are etc., an indication of the starvation of our soul. As we become aware of these soul deadening traps, we can reverse our life path and by restoring our basic instinct we can become who we really are.
