GU Recap: SPACE, Arlington Career Center Student Show

The opening reception for the APS (Arlington Public Schools) Arlington Career Center student exhibition SPACE had record-breaking turnout to support the young artists and curators of Arlington. Nearly 300 gallery visitors enjoyed a dynamic exhibition of 75 artworks seeking to challenge our perception of space.

The eventful evening included an awards ceremony, music by ACC junior Julian Eichers, and an informational table about ArtRx, a Washington-Liberty High School club that creates art and writing workshops at hospitals in the DMV area.

This partnership between the Alliance and the Career Center is currently in its third year. Through mentorship of Arlington Artists Alliance staff and volunteers, students participate in developing and producing a professional art show: they learn all aspects of art show production including curation, design of promotional materials, framing, pricing, and inventory. Thank you to ACC art teacher Christina Ascani for her leadership role in executing this impactful partnership.

Big thank you to Arlington County Board Member Takis Karantonis for attending the exhibition and discussing the artworks with these young artists and curators. And thank you to We the Pizza for donating food for the reception.
