Together We Rise: United

A group show by the Veteran Artists of Uniting US

Dates: April 30 – May 31, 2024

Opening Reception: May 3, 2024, 5-7pm

This May, Gallery Underground and Arlington Artists Alliance present Together We Rise: United, a group show featuring 18 military veteran and family member artists from nonprofit group Uniting US. The exhibition showcases 2D and 3D works that celebrate the benefits of individual choice, freedom of speech, and the right to vote. Show attendees will experience veterans’ allegiance to our nation discovered through service, loss, and life after military service.

Founder AnnMarie Halterman, an Air Force veteran, states, “This show puts our talented artists at the heart of a broad and deep military community in Northern Virginia. The venue provides a tremendous opportunity for the community to show support for veteran and military families who find healing and wellness as artists”. The mission of Uniting US to bring the community together, promote unity, and provide opportunities for holistic healing deeply align with our Alliance values. We are thrilled to present this partnership exhibition for the second year in a row.

The opening reception will be held at the Gallery Underground on Friday, May 3rdfrom 5-8PM. The reception will include talks by Uniting US artist Luis Rosa-Valentin, and Lisa Simms Booth the Executive Director of The Smith Center for Healing and the Arts. An original collaborative artwork by three Uniting US sculptors, AnnMarie Halterman, John Sonnier, and Michael Wheeler will also be unveiled.

The reception, which is free and open to the community, will feature live music by guitarist Bill Shelton, drinks, and food donated by Ted’s Montana Grill. Lodging will be provided to Uniting US artists courtesy of the National Landing Hilton. We are grateful for the generosity of our community who believe in the positive impact of this annual event.
