Our American Soul
National Juried Show
Dates: February 27 - March 29, 2024
Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony: Friday, March 1st from 5-7pm.
This March, Gallery Underground presents its next National Juried Show, Our American Soul. This show features artists from across the country, including works in all mediums. Artists explore questions including what makes us American, what gives our country its 'soul' and how does this combination of words evoke a person, a place, a feeling, or all of the above? Collectively, the show brings forth a full range of sentiments from deeply moving and reflective to lighthearted and nostalgic.
Robert Yi, current Assistant Director, Senior Graduate and Undergraduate Academic Advisory and Interim Director of Painting and Drawing at George Mason University's School of Art, is the show's Juror.
The opening reception for Our American Soul will feature a preview performance by the Arlington Chorale for their upcoming concert The Stranger. The Stranger raises awareness for the plight of refugees worldwide, shedding light on their stories, struggles, and resilience by using religious texts from the world’s major religions and first-person immigrant poetry.
