Movement & Textures

A Solo Show by Nataliya Gurshman

Dates: October 30, 2023 - November 24, 2023

First Friday Opening Reception: November 3, 2023, 5-7pm

This November, Gallery Underground presents Movement & Textures, a solo show by Nataliya Gurshman. The exhibition features oil paintings that originate from her experiences of winter growing up in Leningrad. These formative years are rooted in her soul and and expressed in her lush and textural pieces.

Having grown up in big cities, Gurshman is attracted to street perspectives, architecture and city sounds. She uses bold brush strokes of opaque lights against transparent cooler shadows that enable her to express the movement of city life. Within her cityscapes and landscapes, she uses her palette knife to honor the raw essence of oil paint. Many of the works in Movement & Textures are inspired either by a real place or by her childhood memories and emotions.

The opening reception on November 3,  from 5 -7PM, will have live music performed by saxophonist Igor Brailovskiy, as well as gallery snacks and wine.
