Bio:
Cindy grew up as an Air Force brat traveling the world and she loves to explore new locations, cultures, and people. Her successful career as an executive leading Benefits and Procurement teams was fulfilling, but she longed to explore her more creative side. Over the years she kept coming back to art as her passion. She recently found a letter she wrote when she was 10 years old to her grandmother saying, “I just started painting and I really like it.” That same grandmother kept one of Cindy’s first paintings and proudly displayed it in her living room for over 40 years. Cindy has taken art classes on and off for years and has found a great artist community through Jane Coonce’s art class and the Arlington Artist Alliance. Joining fellow artists on trips to southern France and Venice to paint en plein air has been a joy and a source of inspiration. Cindy’s work has been accepted into several juried shows and her paintings have been exhibited in local venues such as Gallery Clarendon, Gallery Underground, Fort C. F. Smith, and Cassatt’s Cafe. Her paintings can be found nationally in private collections.
Artist Statement:
I enjoy a wide range of subjects, but am captivated by water, light play, and reflections. When I paint, I use design, color, and brushstroke to capture a moment, a feeling, a shimmer on the water. With each painting—be it an expansive sky enveloping a painter in a field or the breathless smile of a child playing on the beach—I work to bring those elements together to tell the scene’s story and express my creative interpretation.
