Mabel Mestre enjoys the challenges of intensely realistic paintings. She paints in oils as well as in acrylics and pastels. Her favorite subjects are portraits and still lifes.
Originally from Uruguay, she began her oil painting studies in 1992. She has taken classes under the guidance of Professor Raimundo Rubio as well as with Priscilla Treacy and Dianna Schwartzberg at the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia.
She has participated in various group exhibits such as in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, sponsored by the Montgomery County Government, the Art League Gallery, the Organization of American States and in the Inter-American Development Bank. In two exhibits her work was awarded the first place. Much of her work is in private collections.
