About

Mission

To create and promote local art in the Arlington community

History

Formed in 2000 as a non-profit 501(c)(3), the Arlington Artists Alliance grew from an idea by working artists who wanted to make local art more visible in our community. Full membership is open to local visual artists who live, work or have a studio in Arlington and want to exhibit their work.  Supporting membership is encouraged for art patrons and enthusiasts who value local art-making.

We encourage and support both established and emerging artists who work in all forms of 2D and 3D art without partiality toward style or trend. We support those artists who find their creative process therapeutic.  We treasure the support we receive from art lovers, local businesses and our community.

Today

Our programs are found throughout Arlington County, Virginia, and our activity hub is located at Gallery Underground, an Arlington Artists Alliance art gallery within Art Underground in Crystal City. Our Gallery exhibits and promotes both member work, and also other local and national artists in special monthly exhibits.

Our 130 members also exhibit year-round at a variety of Arlington community venues, including local government offices, community organizations, churches, businesses, restaurants and cafes. The Alliance hosts several community-wide annual exhibits, including spring and fall festivals at Fort C.F. Smith in Arlington.

Sponsors and Partners

Thanks to funders, generous art-minded individuals, JBG Smith and the offices and businesses listed below, the Arlington Artists Alliance continues as a vital, energetic, creative force for visual art in Arlington County.

We thank the following partners for their generosity in opening their doors to our local artists to show and sell their work:

The Arlington Artists Alliance is supported in part by Arlington County through the Arlington Cultural Affairs Division of Arlington Economic Development and the Arlington Commission for the Arts and in part by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
